Eriberto Oriol for Altamont

A top art critic from The Los Angeles Times called Eriberto Oriol "a people's aesthete for his discerning eye." Eriberto's photos have a strong sense of perspective and composition. This formal sensibility merged with a gift for capturing the raw essence and realities of L.A. Latino street life was instilled in Eriberto's son, Estevan Oriol, at an early age. Estevan is now a renowned photographer and director in his own right. But, it was Eriberto who planted the seed, literally!

Supporting emerging artists and providing them with a platform for exposure has always been LRG’s dictum, and so the label turned it sunny California headquarters into the physical embodiment of that platform for Chicago graffiti artist, Pose. R.I.P. Jay Reatard

A loyal Altamont supporter, Jay’s life and prolific creative output touched many (more details HERE). Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was a staple of the Memphis garage rock scene for years before bursting on the national scene with 2006's Blood Visions and subsequently signing to Matador. His most recent album, Watch Me Fall, came out last year. A statement from Matador reads, "Jay was as full of life as anyone we've ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. Danny Davis wins Mammoth

Mammoth Lakes, CA - Michigan native Danny Davis has just done the unimaginable. Danny has become the first snowboard athlete to nail three doubles in one run. “That was the best halfpipe run I have ever done,” said Davis after he put down a landmark run that included three double corks-a personal and contest first. And it was clearly devoted to good friend Kevin Pearce who is recovering from a serious snowboard injury. Davis said he was connected with Kevin on a spiritual level and it gave him confidence and good vibes on the hill today. The win meant many things to him, but overall he was “just stoked to make everyone smile”. This is a huge accomplishment leading into the Vancouver Olympics. The US team has not been chosen yet as they still have three more Grand Prix events. Danny will be competing again this week here in Mammoth, CA.

LRG Spring 10 preview

To be honest our Spring 2010 photoshoot was a last minute idea that came from marketing and design. We wanted to give the consumer an emotional tie by shooting on location with vivid scenenery and cutting edge photography. Spring 2010 was shot in Yosemite National Park. Destination photography is the direction we will be taking moving forward. We rented an R.V. and loaded up it up with people, food and equipment and drove all night until the sun came up. We had no idea what to expect but knew we were going somewhere beautiful and unexplored. Beautiful is an undersatement and creativity was in full bloom. We shot skate team riders Rob Gonzalez, Karl Watson and Kelly Hart and also up and coming artist Mike Posner. It took one day to scout locations and the rest we freestyled. We literally stumbled upon some of mother natures finests. This new direction will give L-R-G a more mature feeling and bring personality and life to our clothing. We think you’ll agree how refined, polished and distinguished the Spring 2010 line looks. We are forever young at heart and our concept will always remain the same.
